I’m Jane Shankster, owner and garden designer at Arthur Road Landscapes.

I believe that spending more time outside is good for you. My goal is to design an elegant and plant rich garden where you can do the things you enjoy. Once you’ve got the right garden, you’ll be amazed at how much more you use it and how much pleasure it brings you.

My gardens are for people who love plants, being surrounded by nature and enjoy the experience of gardening. If you’re looking for a no gardening-plastic lawn-concrete raised beds kind of garden, I am not the designer for you.

I have a can-do, organised and professional approach that my clients really appreciate. They also tell me that I’m friendly, energetic and fun to work with. When I’m not designing gardens, I enjoy photography, long-distance trekking, fair-weather cycling, and looking over the fence at other people’s gardens. I am a volunteer gardener at South Park Gardens in Wimbledon.

I've been designing gardens since 2005 and I'm a pre-registered member of the Society of Garden Designers.

Arthur Road Landscapes is based in Wimbledon and I design gardens all over south-west London and Surrey. Occasionally I work further afield.
